What We Do

Agricultural Incubation Hub
Bokamoso launched an Agricultural Innovation Lab, providing a four month agricultural crash course to motivated entrepreneurial community members who go on to acquire certification from the Agricultural Research Council after a written/verbal assessment in accordance with our curriculum that aligns with the ARC’s core teachings.

Our training covers everything from constructing a drip irrigation scheme, building a nursery, detecting diseases among the vegetables and how to treat them with pesticides and introducing organic fertilizer and fertigation.

Enterprise Development
Our post-incubation phase is where we help our farmers to scale their agribusiness and farm on their own land. We focus on the production of quality graded vegetables, including potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes and onions.

Market Access Facilitation
Bokamoso coordinates and aggregates the production of our smallholder farmers in terms of crop quality standards as
well as providing storage facilities and transport to move the produce from the farm to the market.

We work to integrate our farmers into the agricultural value chain and the agro-food markets and our project partners play a frontal role in the form of facilitating market access by going into direct off-take and profit sharing agreements with each of our farmers.

Our Unique Value

Commitment to our farmers
We offer our farmers the best technical know-how and the incentives to increase production with the certainty of a ready market for their produce.

Commitment to our consumers
We provide our consumers with access to large quantities of fresh vegetables that surpass the quality of products transported from produce markets hundreds of miles away.

Commitment to our Investors
Bokamoso Impact is committed to increasing our company’s value and providing profits to its investors, with transparency and corporate ethics as our guiding principles.

Our Impact

As an Impact Investments Company, Bokamoso has far-reaching positive social impact
in our beneficiary communities and on the overall agricultural sector in rural South Africa.

Reduce poverty in communites

We significantly raise sales revenues of smallholder farmers by up to 300%, thereby helping reduce the incidence of abject poverty among our network of farmers.

Provide best practices in farming

Our agricultural hub helps spread farming best practices to other farmers in nearby communities beyond our immediate cohort of farmer students.

Provide access to farming capital

By offering our farmers credit facilities to access inputs and also afford other production costs, we will bring financial services to these smallholder rural farmers who would otherwise have remained unbanked.

Promote farming as a business

Ultimately, we showcase to the rural populace how farming can be a viable source of livelihood which will help drastically reduce the high rate of unemployment.

Our Founder

Lesego Florence Serolong is the founder and CEO of Bokamoso Impact Investments.

Following her degree at the London School of Economics, Lesego Serolong spent time abroad in Asia in impoverished communities exploring the ways in which entrepreneurship presents a sustainable way to lift whole communities economically and on a long--term scale.

She felt that rural communities in her home country of South Africa had the same potential to be transformed by social entrepreneurship.

After a year of research in the above community in the North-West Province, which included direct and open discussions in the town hall, surrounding problems existing in the community and solutions available agriculture emerged as a multi-dimensional solution.
